Supporting a Green Event

The West End BIA’s commitment to a green event illustrates support of companies in the sustainability sector and also means that we are not promoting industry sectors which are detrimental to the environment. Our ‘Green’ commitment practice on waste and environment protection at the event will focus on such things as:
• Reducing waste
• Reusing materials at every opportunity
• Aligning ourselves with green suppliers & partners
• Minimizing the amount of printed materials & direct mail that we use
• Recycling
• Encouraging our staff and members to be responsible, corporate green citizens
• Utilizing energies and water sparingly
• Considering environmental impacts in our purchasing
• Endeavouring to work with partner organizations that share our green values
• Utilizing public transport wherever possible and its impacts on the environment
• Always leaving the smallest footprint at all our events

It is our intention to continue to operate our business in an as environmentally friendly way as we can, as is illustrated by what we have achieved to date.

• Waste paper is used on both sides before recycling.
• Minimum use of paper based marketing & registration.
• All of the paper we use is recycled.
• We actively focus on email and web based communication.
• Staff are actively encouraged to avoid wasteful printing.
• Shipping to the event is minimized by printing locally.
• We look to educate and pressure the attendees and participants at the venue into minimizing their own footprint.
• We are using our own garbage containers and recycling bins, rather than disposable ones.
• Our identification badges will be collected and reused at the next event.
• Any items we use at the event are made from recycled materials.
