Davie Day Zones
This year the street will be sectioned off into specific zones.
Community
This Zone offers the community information about issues from a range of local
organisations on subjects affecting residents in the West End and all of Vancouver.
KidZone
The KidZone promises to be a high-energy area with lots of fun including a bouncy castle where kids can bounce to their heart’s content or until parents say it is time to go. Children will have the opportunity to make crafts to take home, get their face painted, take a tricycle for a tour, and much more exciting fun. Although this area is geared toward the youth, it will be fun for adults as well. In addition it will allow parents to take a minute to sit and relax and have their children entertained in a safe environment.
Arts & Culture
Everybody who loves the idea of strolling through an open air art gallery with the ambient sound of jazz in the distance will love the Arts & Culture Zone. There will be a variety of local art displays, working artists, dance groups and performers that represent our cultural diversity and creativity.
Heritage
The Heritage Zone seeks to take visitors on a journey through the original sounds and expressions of our rich culture. Exhibitors are eager to tell visitors a little about our cultural roots and demonstrate how the West End looked a hundred years ago. Accurate costumes and attire, antique vehicles with personality and old fashioned food add to the nostalgia.
Lifestyle
The Lifestyle Zone will bring the community a unique experience combining
participation, motivation, and education of living a healthy, passionate and active lifestyle. Exhibitors will feature everything from fashion, jewellery and beauty products to health screenings, fitness, food and beverage samplings, and home wares. This area makes visitors from kids to seniors and everyone in between connect with like minded people and offers plenty for those who just want to stroll around watch and take it all in.
Doggy
The Doggy Zone is an area for dogs and the people who love them. It features the positive aspects of responsible dog ownership, the principles of proper dog selection and training, and offers a vast array of dog-related products and services including live demonstrations. Dogs can show their talent and owners can learn about what their dog or puppy needs for health and happiness.
Sustainability
The Sustainability Zone aims to stimulate awareness by bringing environmental, green, health and lifestyle, recycling and sustainable issues into the public eye. Visitors will find inspirations to make simple changes in their everyday lives to help the environment and the world we leave for generations to come. Demonstrations feature eco-friendly, sustainable products and services, information about energy saving resources and programmes as well as expert tips on greening your garden, home, work, and play.
Relax
There will be various areas for festival attendees looking to hang out in a relaxing area. Visitors can enjoy their food and drinks and read a book or a magazine from the book rack while enjoying the atmosphere and good vibes of a lively street festival.
